Born from a love of craft
Nameg was founded in 2020 by Namita Dashora, Meghali Barua Lahiry, and Rupali Barua — three women united by a deep appreciation for India’s handloom heritage. What began as a passion for collecting rare, handwoven sarees from master weavers evolved into a mission: to bring the finest handloom textiles directly from the loom to discerning women across India.
Operating from a three-storey boutique on Raja Basanta Roy Road in Kolkata, Nameg curates an ever-evolving collection of Jamdani, Tussar Silk, Baluchari, Kanjivaram, and Banarasi sarees — each piece individually handpicked and authenticated.

Our founders travel seasonally to weaving clusters across Bengal, Varanasi, Kanchipuram, and beyond — sitting with artisans, understanding their craft, and selecting only the pieces that meet Nameg’s exacting standards of quality, authenticity, and artistry.
